Sodium Aescinate for Injection (Maitongna)

Sodium Aescinate for Injection (Maitongna)our main natural drug developed in-house, comprised approximately 41.7 % of our Group sales for FY2003. Since the launch of this product in 1995, sales have increased at a compound annual growth rate of approximately 33.3%. To the best of our Directors' knowledge, we have approximately 68%, 74% and 77% of the market share for this type of drug in FY2001, FY2002 and FY2003 respectively.

Sodium Aescinate for Injection is marketed under our trademark, Maitongnaand is a prescription drug. The main component of Sodium Aescinate for Injection (Maitongna) is Sodium Aescinate, a natural active ingredient, extracted from SuoLuoZi, a fruit of the ¡°Aesculus Chinensis Bge¡± tree, commonly found in certain forested regions of the PRC. Sodium Aescinate for Injection
(Maitongna)is an anti-inflammatory and anti-swelling drug used mainly in the fields of orthopaedics and neurology to treat inflammation and swelling resulting from causes such as hydrocephalus, intracephalic hematoma, chronic venous insufficiency, burns, traumas, fractures and wounds.

We are currently the only company in the PRC which has obtained the GMP certification for the manufacture of the natural active ingredient, Sodium Aescinate. In addition, our lyophilised powder injection production line and manufacturing process is GMP certified. We have also obtained the ¡°Pharmaceutical Composition with Low Toxicity for Anti-inflammatory and Antiexudation¡± patent for the composition of our Sodium Aescinate for Injectionin the PRC and the USA. With this patent, our pricing, compared with Sodium Aescinate for Injection produced by other manufacturers, is the highest permitted under the PRC price control system (please refer to Appendix D on page D-5 of this Prospectus under the heading ¡°Price control¡± for the factors taken into consideration in determining the relevant pricing of a drug).

 

Nuosen (Sodium Pantoprazole for Injection)

Nuosen (Sodium Pantoprazole for Injection) comprised approximately 6.6% of our Group sales for FY2003. To the best of our Directors' knowledge, we had approximately 4%, 10% and 18% market share for this type of drug in FY2001, FY2002 and FY2003 respectively. We had acquired the proprietory rights to manufacture and sell Nuosen
(Sodium Pantoprazole for Injection) in 1999 from an unrelated third
party. Since the launch of this product in 1999, sales have increased at a compound annual growth rate of 102.5%. Sodium Pantoprazole for Injection is marketed under our trademark and brand name, Nuosen . Nuosen (Sodium Pantoprazole for Injection) is a chemical drug with new formulation and is manufactured from Sodium Pantoprazole through the freeze dry process. It is a prescription drug principally used for the treatment of gastroenterological ailments such as duodenum ulcers, gastric ulcers, acute pathologic change of gastric mucosa, compound gastric ulcer and acute haemorrhage of the upper digestive tract. As Nuosen (Sodium Pantoprazole for Injection)
rarely reacts with other drugs as compared to other similar drugs, its
medicinal effectiveness is enhanced and easily monitored. In addition, Nuosen (Sodium Pantoprazole for Injection) is available in three different specifications (40mg, 60mg and 80mg) as compared to those of our competitors who only offer one type of specification (40mg). This enables us to meet the varying needs of different patients.

 

Lutingnuo (Reduced Glutathione for Injection)

Another prescription drug, Lutingnuo (Reduced Glutathione for Injection) was introduced in February 2003 and comprised approximately 4.9% of our Group sales for FY2003. We had acquired the proprietory rights to manufacture and sell Lutingnuo (Reduced Glutathione for Injection) in 2001 from an unrelated third party. Lutingnuo (Reduced Glutathione for Injection is principally used in the field of hepatology for the treatment of liver ailments such as acute alcoholic hepatitis, alcoholic hepatic fibrosis and liver cirrhosis. It also reduces toxins from chemical treatments on tumour patients.

name, Lutingnuo . Lutingnuo (Reduced Glutathione for Injection)
, a natural drug with new formulation, is manufactured from a natural active ingredient, reduced glutathione synthetase, through the freeze dry process.

 

Olai (Compound Sodium Aescinate Gel)

Olai (Compound Sodium Aescinate Gel) , an OTC product,
comprised approximately 2.0 % of our Group sales for FY2003. This product was developed inhouse and launched in August 2002. Olai (Compound Sodium Aescinate Gel) is principally used for pain relief and anti-inflammatory purposes caused by dropsy and haematoma. It also relieves symptoms to the veins caused by vein transfusion and plebitis in order to maintain the normal functions of the veins and was recommended by the Chinese Nursing Association in October 2003 for these purposes.

Compound Sodium Aescinate Gel is marketed under our trademark and
brand name, Olai . The main components of Compound Sodium Aescinate Gel
are Sodium Aescinate and a chemical, Diethylamine Salicylate. Olai
(Compound Sodium Aescinate Gel) is a drug with new formulation as we have managed to manufacture the medication in the form of a gel instead of the traditional cream form. The advantage of the gel over the cream form is that it enhances absorption and is non-staining.
